Course Requirements

UNT's Peace Corps Prep Certificate requires that students complete 18 hours of academic coursework as well as fulfill additional requirements. Please visit the UNT Course Catalog for additional information about the courses.

Training and Experience Course Requirements:

Students must complete 9 advanced hours in a specific Peace Corps work sector that may be selected with approval from the UNT Peace Corps Prep Coordinator. Examples of academic disciplines related to the Peace Corps work sectors are listed below. The course requirements may also be completed through study abroad.

Language Course Requirements (optional):

The Peace Corps requires that volunteers working in Latin America demonstrate strong intermediate proficiency in Spanish and that volunteers working in West Africa demonstrate proficiency in French or another Romance Language--as applicable. The Peace Corps does not have language requirements for other volunteer locations, but strongly encourages applicants to have a least one foreign language class in the same language of the country where the applicant intends to serve. Native speakers of Spanish and French who want to serve in a country that speaks their native language are exempt from the language requirement.
